The Future of Working Environment and Set-up: Will you be able to work in this kind of Set-up?
The FUTURE of Work
COVID-19 has evolved into a Global Community impacting everyone and every sector in the Government and Private Organizations.
During this kind of uncertainties, companies are looking for better ways to continue the business, thus the new working environment are being implemented. Some don’t have a clear set-up and guidelines on how to do it.
I have some ideas and clarifications about this new work set-up and I must say that these will be the future of work:
1. Work-From-Home - This is a set-up where resources are requested to work remotely from the comfort of their home.
2. Work-Near-Home - This is a set-up where resources are requested to work from the sattelite office or different branch of their company where resources are living nearby the area.
3. Work-From-CoWorking Space - This is a set-up where resources are advised to work in a co-working spaces or office such as Regus, etc.
There are questions with regards to these set-up, among which are:
1. Time-in and Out of the resources?
2. How can we measure and make sure of their deliverables?
The above questions are the main concerns of the business. They are going to pay their people in return of the task/job. It is unfair for the business to pay for nothing.
My Key Suggestions:
1. Develop an app where resources can just time-in and out by just tapping the button (Microsoft Power App and Upwork Log-in. Or an app to log-in your company credentials.
(Note: Upwork Timesheet Application can capture the time of the activity, the whole screen of the laptop)
2. Develop an app to monitor the screen or the activity of the laptop. To determine whether the resources are doing the task or doing other stuffs. This app will automatically take a screenshot of the laptop or desktop. The screenshot will then send directly to the supervisor.
3. Give the resources a specific task to be submitted at the end of the day or week. In this case the resources can also maximize his/her time. As long as he/she has an output for certain time.
4. A daily stand-up call for at least 15-30 minutes to determine and talk about any difficulties related to the task or job.
With the suggestions or recommendations above, not all resources have the capacity to have an internet at home or a personal desktop/laptop, thus this suggestions:
1. A Company should provide the resources any means to perform his/her task such as
1.1. WIFI
1.2. Laptop/Desktop
1.3. Subsidized the electricity if needed.
Ensure that resources has a good place to perform his/her task like a quiet room/ environment, strong internet.
